Screening tests help in early detection of cancer. This enables timely treatment, reduces additional treatment cost due to advanced disease and even substantially improves the chances of survival. Diagnostic procedures for cancer may include imaging scans, lab tests, biopsy, endoscopic exam, or genetic testing. The most common test used to diagnose cancer is a tissue or needle biopsy.
